Caravaggio’s Cecco’ Serigraph Portfolio

Caravaggio’s Cecco’ Serigraph Portfolio

Exhibitions, Series and Works
This Portfolio is one of the last Printmaking Projects that I worked on while attending CSU Chico, a little over a year ago. I've been thinking of Printmaking a lot more recently and wishing that I could get back into printing (no press, and not much space). This portfolio was entered and selected to be in the CSU Chico 59th Annual Juried Student Exhibition my portfolio was selected for exhibition and the juror Glen Helfand made a mention of the work in his Exhibition Statement.  I really enjoyed working on this series and watching it evolve from early works that I wasn't really sure what the end goal was, into a cohesive work. Over a year ago when I was working on the early stages of this portfolio I made a couple blog…

LAPS Give and Take Print Exchange, Exhibition and Sale

Exhibitions, Series and Works
The Los Angeles Printmaking Society put out a call for Art a while back for an Exchange and Exhibition. Its titled Give & Take, and the exhibition is up from March 18th to May 9th. I made two prints, for the exchange. Both are Serigraphs, on an 8 by 10 paper size. The image size is smaller, around 6 inches on the longest side. The prints are in the Easternizing Western art series of prints that are based on historical paintings. The two for this exchange are both based on Caravaggio's paintings. The concept has to do with how we look at non-western art in comparison to looking at the actual paintings of western art.   [caption id="attachment_31" align="aligncenter" width="240"] Easternizing Western Art: Caravaggio's Medusa[/caption] [caption id="attachment_32" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Easternizing…

Installing The Cans in the Third Floor Gallery

Exhibitions
On Monday and Tuesday of last week I installed The Cans at the Third Floor Gallery. There are two series of The Cans installed, One Shot, and One Squeeze. One Squeeze is comprised of 71 mounted 6 by 9 photographs, and One Shot is 64. In total there are 135 mounted works in the gallery. Monday morning I installed the One Shot series, on the wall with a window. I decided to put the smaller series on that wall because I felt it would fit better there. The wall at the end of the gallery has the stairs beside it with a small third wall. To install this series it was important that the top be level all the way across, regardless of the height from the floor. I started…

February 17th 2014, The Cans Opens

Exhibitions
The creation of this blog and website is a result of being selected for a solo show. The show opened today at the 3rd Floor Art Gallery in the BMU, on the Chico campus. It is up until March 10th, there will be a reception on March 5th from 5pm to 7pm. The website is still a work in progress, with more pages and information to come. Particularly printmaking related pages. Some pages are still in need of refinement and additional information. This blog will serve as a platform for my thoughts, and to share information. Soon I will be posting a blog that details the process of installing my first solo show, and the issues that came up while installing. There will be plenty of installation pictures, and a…
